The Revenue has extended the Pay and File Deadline for ROS Customers

On the 17th September 2020 Revenue announced a four week extension to the Pay and File deadline for self-assessment income tax customers and for customers liable to Capital Acquisitions Tax (CAT – i.e. Gift Tax).

The purpose of which is to assist in the challenges being experienced by businesses and tax practitioners arising from the COVID-19 crisis.

For customers who file their 2019 Form 11 return and make the appropriate payment through ROS for:

  • Preliminary Tax for 2020
  • Income Tax balance due for 2019

the due date is now extended from the 12th November to the 10th December 2020.

The Revenue have also extended the due date for beneficiaries who received gifts/inheritances with valuation dates in the year ended 31 August 2020.

Such beneficiaries now have until the 10th December 2020 to make a Capital Acquisitions Tax (CAT) return and the appropriate payment again through ROS.

In order to qualify for the extension, it is important to note that you must both pay and file through ROS. There is no change to the deadline of the 31st  October 2020 for taxpayers who file on paper rather than online through ROS.
